Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are a binding agreement between you and Otaku Quiz LLC, an Ohio limited liability company (“OtakuQuiz,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). They govern your access to and use of OtakuQuiz — our anime trivia quiz website and apps at otakuquiz.com (the “Service”).

By creating an account or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

OtakuQuiz is an anime-themed trivia game. You answer trivia questions across many anime titles to earn XP, ranks, streaks, badges, and coins, and to compete in leagues and duels. Features and content may change, and availability is not guaranteed to be uninterrupted or error-free.

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. Our age gate blocks account creation by anyone who indicates they are under 13. If you are between 13 and 17, you represent that your parent or legal guardian permits your use of the Service.

Some content is rated for mature audiences. By accessing mature-rated content, you represent that you meet the minimum age for that content.

You are responsible for your account. You agree to:

• Provide accurate information when you register.
• Keep your sign-in credentials secure and accept responsibility for activity under your account.
• Notify us promptly at otakuquizllc@gmail.com if you suspect unauthorized use of your account.

You may have one account per person. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

You agree not to:

• Use cheats, bots, scripts, scrapers, or other automation to play or to extract questions or data from the Service.
• Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to access source code or non-public parts of the Service.
• Harass, threaten, impersonate, or defame others, or post unlawful or infringing content.
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service, other users' accounts, or our systems.
• Create multiple accounts, share accounts, or manipulate scores, leagues, duels, or rankings.
• Use the Service in violation of any applicable law.

We may suspend or terminate accounts, void scores, remove leaderboard standings, or adjust balances if we believe this section has been violated.

The Service includes a virtual currency called “coins.” Coins are earned through gameplay. The following terms apply to coins:

• Coins have no monetary value and are not money, currency, or property of any kind.
• Coins are a limited, personal, revocable, non-transferable license to use a feature of the Service — not property that you own.
• Coins currently cannot be purchased with real money.
• Coins cannot be redeemed, exchanged, or withdrawn for cash or anything of monetary value, and cannot be transferred or sold to anyone.
• We may adjust, reduce, expire, or remove coins, or change how coins are earned or spent, at our discretion and without liability to you.

If your account is closed or terminated, any coin balance is forfeited and has no value.

Cosmetics and other virtual items you unlock or acquire with coins (such as avatar frames, titles, and themes) are also a limited, personal, revocable, non-transferable license to use them within the Service. They are not property that you own, have no monetary value, and cannot be transferred, sold, redeemed, or withdrawn for cash. We may modify, remove, or expire cosmetics and other virtual items at our discretion.

The Service currently has no paid features. There is nothing to purchase, no subscription, and no in-app billing. Coins cannot be purchased with real money (see Section 6). If we introduce paid features in the future, we will update these Terms to describe them before they become available.

“Founder Pro” is a promotional program under which a limited number of early accounts received Pro-style benefits at no cost. The program is currently closed, no purchase is or was involved, and a Founder Pro slot does not automatically convert into any paid plan now or in the future. Founder slots are limited promotional benefits, revocable and non-transferable, and have no monetary value.

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that trivia content is entirely accurate.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty disclaimers, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Otaku Quiz LLC and its officers, members, employees, and affiliates will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising out of or relating to your use of the Service.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or USD $100. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limitations, so they may not fully apply to you.

The Service — including its software, design, original question text, graphics, and the OtakuQuiz name and logo — is owned by Otaku Quiz LLC and protected by intellectual property laws. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for personal, non-commercial purposes under these Terms.

OtakuQuiz references characters, titles, and plot points from anime works owned by third parties for the purpose of factual trivia. All such works are the property of their respective owners; we claim no ownership of them and are not affiliated with or endorsed by any anime studio. If you are a rights holder with a concern about content in the Service, contact us at otakuquizllc@gmail.com.

You may stop using the Service at any time. You can delete your account at any time from within the Service: on the web, open Settings; in the mobile app, open Profile. The deletion flow shows a permanent-deletion warning, asks you to reauthenticate to confirm it is really you, processes the deletion, shows a completion state, and then automatically signs you out. If you cannot sign in, you can also request deletion from our public deletion page at /delete-account. Your personal information is then deleted or anonymized, except for limited anonymized security or audit records and the record of any Founder Pro slot you claimed (Founder slots are permanently consumed and never reused, as described in Section 8).

We may suspend or terminate your access at any time, with or without notice, if we believe you have violated these Terms or to protect the Service or other users. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ends, and any coin balance and virtual items are forfeited. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including those on virtual currency, intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and governing law) will survive.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Ohio, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute relating to these Terms or the Service will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Ohio, and you consent to the jurisdiction of those courts. Nothing here limits any non-waivable consumer rights you may have under the laws of your country of residence.

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last Updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you through the Service. Continued use of the Service after an update takes effect means you accept the revised Terms.
